Support for carers
Caring for a loved one experiencing an eating disorder can be a difficult and sometimes isolating or confusing experience.
If you are caring for a child, partner, friend or relative with an eating disorder, it is not uncommon that you find your life has become wrapped up in their well-being; taking them to appointments, overseeing meals, acting as their stand-in therapist, and just generally worrying about their recovery.
You do this because you love them, and of course you wouldn't have it any other way. Let's be honest though, it can be exhausting and emotionally draining. At the end of the day, who looks after you?
You've probably been in a plane and heard the flight attendants announce; "Should the cabin lose pressure, oxygen masks will drop from the overhead area. Please place the mask over your own mouth and nose before assisitng others".
It is no difference in this instance. In order to look after others, you must first look after yourself.
At Freedom from Food we offer individual therapy, both in person or online, for those caring for a loved one experiencing an eating disorder.
You can choose between counselling sessions or sessions of hypnotherapy; it is up to you and what you feel you need. We can help you decide what will be right for you going forward. For more information about this, please give us a call or head over to the contact
form to get in touch.
We also facilitate monthly peer group support sessions (based in Maidstone, Victoria), depending on demand.
We will endeavour to keep this space updated with upcoming events. However, to make sure that you are up to date, please subscribe to our newsletter below and like and follow our Facebook page

You can also join the Freedom from Food Facebook group,
where members are encouraged to share their stories as well as offer support to others in similar circumstances.
